Seaside Sand City Chamber of Commerce
Seaside, California
Seaside Hotels & MotelsSeaside is north east of Monterey and west of the US Army's formerly huge Fort Ord, an army base founded in 1917 which once covered some 28,500 acres. There are even some native plant varieties which are unique to the sand dune chaparral here. Since the Army released most of the land, Cal State Monterey Bay has set up shop.
The Del Rey Oaks freeway exit puts you at an ideal spot to go to the beach, or park and start your bike ride down the bike path.
South of Seaside, Del Rey Oaks is positioned next to the Monterey Peninsula airport. The 34-acre park there has a golf driving range, tennis courts, and a ball field.
One lovely detail about Seaside is the weather! Often sunnier and often warmer than the Monterey Peninsula proper.
Seaside offers some of the best food on the Monterey Bay at the Fishwife Seaside and the Turtle Bay Taqueria next door on Fremont. Mmm black beans.
