If you love Europe like I love Europe, but you want to stay on this continent, then plan to stay on the Monterey Bay. You'll be on a colorful beach coast reminiscent of Biarritz. Take a road trip or base yourself Santa Cruz to Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Big Sur. Everyone is speaking English, though. pretty much Bus/Taxi to Monterey. 2 hour transfer to SJC airport.
