Artist Statement
This is work I did before getting serious about understanding the paint by studying with painters. (It turned out I did not know much about painting at all even though I had always enjoyed looking at them.) I had done a lot of drawing in graphite and crayon up to then. The Kiss: Autumn & Summer was inspired by that really hot summer that just got chilly one day, like autumn gave the kiss of death to summer and she was glad to be finished. Wisteria was juried into the Edmonds Arts Festival and Young Dad received an honorable mention at the Edmonds Arts Festival. Sheila Siden
